I am of opinion that the appointment of Mr. A. L. Shields as Supervisor of the Staff of Interpreters and Translator will give me a little ample work in addition to the duties he now so well discharges. In accordance with Your Lordship's instructions, I have, in preparing the Estimates for 1882, struck out the item of $2,400 from the Colonial Secretary's Department, and transferred it to the establishment charges of the Supreme Court under the heading "Supervisor of the Staff of Interpreters, and Translator".
9. The various other details referred to in Your Lordship's despatch No. 2 of the 10th of January 1881 respecting the staff of the Supreme Court are being dealt with by separate despatch.
